Free Motion Quilting 101

Come and learn the basics of free motion quilting! Diane will touch on all of the important elements- needles, thread, quilting feet and much more. You will practice on sample fabric and batting squares. With practice, and the
basics you learn from this class, your free-motion quilting possibilities are endless.

Beginning Ruler Work : Straight Edges

Combine free-motion stitching with rulers and get a beautiful style of quilting with shaped patterns. In this class you will use a straight ruler that will allow you to form precise straight edged patterns. Diane will teach you the
basics of quilting with rulers in this hands-on class. You will work on sample quilt squares as you learn this fun technique. Knowledge of free motion quilting highly recommended.

Intermediate Free Motion:     Freehand  Fills

Now that you have mastered the basics of Free Motion Quilting, you can take it to the next level. Learn how to creatively stitch unique freehand fills and incorporate them into your quilts.  This technique class is for those who are comfortable at free motion quilting.

Embroidery 101

New to machine embroidery or need to brush up on the basics? Come and learn the fundamentals of hooping and what stabilizers and needles to use. Sue will teach you how to download, transfer and stitch out embroidery designs.  Class fee includes stabilizer sampler pack.

Bernina 790/770+/770  Sewing and Embroidery Workshop

This is the perfect project to get hands on experience using some of the amazing features on your Bernina 7 Series Sewing and Embroidery Machine.  You will stitch out samples using various techniques and accessories such as the circular attachment, decorative pintucks and quilting using your BSR.  In your embroidery mode, you will learn how to couch a design and  monogram.  When all the samples are stitched out, you  will stitch the pieces together to make a small bag.  To complete the project, you will make a vinyl cover with a velcro closure.  Most materials included in class fee.

Fashion Fitting Encyclopedia & Workbook Class

We love to sew, but we also know that the fitting component of making a garment is the most mysterious and difficult part of the process. In this class you will practice the art of pattern fitting. Each fitting technique included also has an accompanying pattern piece with it. You use the scaled down pattern pieces from the workbook to practice the alteration instructions.  As you practice each technique, not only will you become more confident about working with garment patterns, but you’ll also be creating a handy guide you can reference along your sewing journey. No sewing machines needed in this class. Measurements will be taken in the first class.              **Class fee includes Encyclopedia, Workbook, ruler, extra pattern copies and tracing paper.

Intermediate Fit Class 

Now that you have completed the Fashion Fitting Workbook class, you will work on an individual project, using the techniques you learned in class.  You will fit and make adjustments to your pattern, then make a muslin and fine tune as needed.  Please contact the shop for additional information and guidelines.

Serger Technique Workbook

This is a technique class where you complete a workbook with samples for your reference.  You will learn how to set up for different stitches using 3 and 4 threads, how to turn corners and much more!  You must be able to thread your serger.  Private lessons are available to learn how to thread your serger, please call the shop for more information.

Serger Class:   Fall In Love Cardigan

Wrap yourself up in the new Fall In Love Cardigan. This figure flattering knit cardigan can be made entirely on your serger & cover hem, making it the perfect quick make, that lets you transition through the seasons. The cardigan comes with a tie to either tie in front or cinched in back.  A cover hem machine will be available to use in class.

Scout Tee

The Scout is a versatile pattern, now available in sizes 0-18 and 14-30. It’s fitted at the shoulders and falls into a more relaxed shape below the bust. Perfect on its own for spring and summer and a great layering piece under blazers and cardigans the rest of the year. It can be made in a woven fabric or a stable knit.  Make it on your serger or use your sewing machine!
